The Lincoln Boys Basketball team had to wait an extra day to take on CIML Metro rival Hoover due to the Friday snowstorm, but the Rails defense was as sharp as it needed to be in a 43-27 win over the Huskies.
Hoover, running a 3-2 zone for the majority of the game, was able to slow the pace of the game from the start and the Rails held a slight 9-5 advantage after one period. Lincoln picked up the pace in quarter number two and tightened up the packline defense to take a 26-7 lead into halftime. In the second half, the Huskies outscored Lincoln 20-17.
Senior Josiah Conkrite led the way for Lincoln with 13 points and five rebounds. Junior Nate Feller found double figures as well, finishing with 11 points and three steals. Ben Badger and Ben Knoebel finished with 7 and 6 points respectively. Felix Gallagher led Lincoln on the boards with eight.
Lincoln held Hoover to 23.4 percent shooting and 2-of-13 from three. The Rails finished with eight assists and seven turnovers on the night. Lincoln gets right back to action in celebration of MLK Day on Monday night with a 7pm tip at the Roundhouse against Atlantic.
