The Des Moines Lincoln Boys Basketball team was red-hot Friday night in a 86-47 win over East at the Roundhouse. Senior guard Josiah Conkrite led Lincoln with 28 points on a very efficient 10-for-17 from the field, hitting 7-of-12 from three. Conkrite also added five assists. The most impressive of them was a 75-foot baseball pass that hit teammate Ben Knoebel in stride for a layup.
Knoebel finished with 15 points on a 4-for-10 performance from the field. Senior center Logan Sharp tallied a double-double for the Railsplitters in his return from an illness, recording 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Lincoln raced out to a 21-12 lead at the end of the first quarter and kept the foot on the gas all the way through the third, tallying 21 in the second and 29 in the third.
The Railsplitters connected on 31-of-55 from the field and 10-of-23 from three. Lincoln did struggle from the free throw line, converting on just 14-of-24.
The Rails take on 8-0 Waukee on Tuesday night at the Waukee Fieldhouse. Tip off is scheduled for 7:45pm.
